Welcome to Planty of Eats! I hope you stick around and check out my site, but first, I would like to introduce myself
I'm Bree!
I am the recipe developer, writer, designer, and photographer of Planty of Eats.
I have 25+ years of experience in the food industry, so, I guess you could say I know how to cook some things.
I have been Vegan for 15 years and it was not a change that I made over night. Though I acknowledge those who have and commend them for being lucky to have options from the start.
I am married to my actual best friend in the whole entire world. We have been together for 18 years and I couldn't imagine my life without him.
As my number one taste tester, he says "I'm lucky, I get to eat all the good stuff. Even when you think you've failed, it still tastes good."
We currently reside in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada! Due to his job, we move around a lot, but I think I wanna retire here!
I grew up surrounded by farming and corn fields in western Ohio. I didn't like a lot of the things that went on surrounding animal agriculture, but I've never been great with words and saying things.
When I was 9 years old, I joined my "local" 4-H club and got to have a lot of "pets" because of it. I was only in it because I wanted animals and my dad wouldn't let me have them any other way. Then I found out what happened with some of those animals once their usefulness in the "club" was up and I wanted no part of it anymore.
Two other amazing adults in this world call me their parent.
When I'm not in the kitchen or working endlessly on this website, I'm probably playing video games. A little less often I crochet, paint, draw, write, or anything I can do to make my little ADHD brain happy.
We have two rescued dogs (rescued is our favorite breed!) They love each other endlessly.
Photo for proof of said love.
Other random and cool facts about me
- I am Audhd.
- If anyone wonders what my personality is like, my husband says I am silly (see above photo, ha) and driven, though I think by that he means I just hyper-focus masterfully.
- I am ridiculously clumsy and can often be heard muttering "stupid hands".
- I have three tattoos, and I will be getting so many more, time and money permitting.
- I am an avid fan of anything Fallout related. Apocalypse, dystopia, etc. I'm also really happy to be living in the wasteland (but it's actually really nice here).
- I would consider myself a Maximalist. I want to be surrounded by alllll of the things and colors, but organized neatly. To say I want my surroundings to look like an I-Spy book is an understatement.
- My husband and I were once served a 5-course vegan dinner by a stupid redneck (he told me to put that in here) in South Carolina named Allen. The food was incredible and I can't wait to go back for a visit some day!
Why did I choose the name Planty Of Eats?
It was my attempt at being clever and punny. But it also really represents what my site is about, honestly. It's about plants made into many foods!
What does this website offer?
Fully vegan recipes for people who don't have access to fancier ingredients. I aim to offer vegan recipes that are easy to make for people in food deserts, or small towns without good vegan options. As someone who has grown up, and lived in small towns or in the middle of no where, I know how hard is when your only options sometimes are frozen, processed foods and no fresh produce.
I am also on a mission to offer more executive dysfunction friendly recipes because 90% of my life with food is eating the most simple, basic things and it can be really hard to get the nutrients that I need when I can't even remember to eat, or I just have no energy to do so.
My recipes are for everyone, non-vegans, new vegans, seasoned vegans who are just looking for new recipes to add to their rotation, you name it. Everyone should be able to make and enjoy any recipe offered on this website.
I do also offer allergen-friendly recipes such as Gluten-free, Soy-free, and Nut free. If a recipe is neither of those, I always offer a substitution in the recipe cards and in post. And just to cover all of my bases, every recipe on this site will always be free of: dairy, eggs, and any/all animal based products.
If you're looking for:
- Easy vegan recipes.
- Executive dysfunction meals. (working on a book for this!)
- Recipes with easy to find, cheap ingredients.
- 30-minute vegan recipes.
- Comforting vegan recipes.
- Gluten-free vegan recipes - Not all recipes on this site are GF
- Allergen-friendly recipes - soy free, nut free, etc (not all are).
- Delicious, easy vegan desserts, breakfasts, dinners, snacks, appetizers, etc.
- Helpful information if you are new to being vegan or even just plant-based eating.
...then, you are exactly where you need to be!
Additionally, I do not throw out recipes left and right. I post my recipes once I feel they are worthy of sharing. That means after I've tested and tried and I've served it to my husband or anyone at least 4 different times and I know that each time it's a success and it tastes the same if not better each time. Sometimes this can take a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
While I am constantly updating things and working behind the scenes, you can be sure that the recipes on this site will be good.
Planty of Eats is not responsible for what you choose to consume nor any injuries from your appliances. Hey, I live in the US, anything is possible so I'm just covering my behind.

Frequently Asked Questions
I worked for 20 years in the food industry. Spent a lot of time working the line, prep cooking, etc, and I never had a dish come back. If you've worked in the restaurant industry, that's a pretty big compliment, right...
Absolutely! If you love my recipes, definitely share them, it's the best way to help me out without spending a dime! Share on social media, with family and friends, or the guy down the street, I don't care!
However, do not steal my images for the purpose of sharing on your own website without full permission from myself. Thank you.
This depends on a few things, if you're wanting to leave me a comment about a recipe, please utilize the comment section under the recipe in question. It not only helps other readers out, but someone else may have your same question out there and it would be useful for them.
If you'd like to discuss something else, perhaps business related, please see my contact page for more details.
You can subscribe to my newsletters! I send one out weekly, and sometimes I share things that you won't find on my website.
Due to the surge in artificial intelligence and a lot of misuse, I feel that this is something that I need to address. I am fully transparent that I only use ChatGPT, to get an idea for better wording when my brain is just not working (yay adhd), but the words are always mine. All words, and photos are mine taken and written by me only. I use A.I. as a productivity tool and nothing more. No photos on this site, nor article written will ever be from A.I.
Nope! And there never will be! I aim to keep my site ad-free. In order to afford everything that comes along with paying for this website and the food/equipment, I rely on affiliate links. See my privacy policy and scroll to the bottom to understand how that works.
I also have the option for you to "buy me coffee". Either by a small donation, or a monthly membership which includes some benefits.
